At L’Arche Stratford, people with developmental disabilities have many opportunities to choose support services that best suit their needs. The people we support are called core members because they are at the heart of everything we do. Core members may choose to live in Group Supported Living, Supported Independent Living, assistance with Passport funding administration or participate in many of our programming activities. See below for detailed programming.

Group Supported Living
At L’Arche we are people with and without developmental disabilities sharing life together. In group-supported living, adults with developmental disabilities share life in a home with four or five other core members and are supported by assistants, some who live in the home, along with a house leader.  People are supported 24 hours a day with personal care, meal preparation and daily home duties. They actively participate in activities and events organized by L’Arche Stratford, as well as community events in Stratford and the surrounding area. Additionally, they engage in employment and volunteering opportunities.

Supported Independent Living
Some of our core members chose to live in Supported Independent Living (SIL). This program responds to the needs of adults with developmental disabilities residing in their own home. There is no overnight support, assistants provide day support to core members aiding them in planning their schedules and completing household tasks. Support is tailored to the persons needs such as banking, medical appointments and grocery shopping. They also participate in L’Arche Stratford’s activities and events as well as events in Stratford and area and employment or volunteering opportunities.Â

Passport Administration
L’Arche Stratford supports core members to manage ministry Passport funding. We will also submit for receipts to PassportONE. As Passport is a reimbursement program having L’Arche provide payments for allowable expenses in advance, reduces the need for a core member paying out-of-pocket. Passport funding gives people the opportunity to take part in educational or recreational programs. It also enables them to develop work, volunteer and daily life skills, or hire a support worker. Support is provided to understand Passport criteria, tracking account balances and reimbursements. To find out more about the Passport Program and assessments click here: https://www.dsontario.ca/Â

Fee-for-Service Activities
L’Arche Stratford has a variety of fee-for-service program options available to its core members.  All fee-for-service programs are eligible for reimbursement through the Passport funding program or can be paid privately. Activities include virtual programs, in-person programs and special events. We provide support for administration and payment of independent contractors.
